Extraordinary Wood Flooring

Elizabeth Gill Interiors, From The Rug Up, Dara Wood

Beautiful flooring anchors the foundation of the environment you are trying to achieve. Traditionally an English practice, fuming wood allows designers the ability to achieve any color they are after (unlike raw wood, which is stained on-site and can often look too perfect). Additionally, because the wood you order is finished prior to shipping, the installation process is swifter.

It was pleasure to be introduced to Dara Wood, a fumed wood collection, owned and operated by Stephen Estrin. Many of you may be familiar with his other company, the family flooring institution, I.J. Peiser’s Sons, which has specialized in fine wood for over 115 years here in New York.

Dara Wood is typically completed within 8-10 week from date of order for any location in the United States. This line also offers 20 standard colors, all of which are absolutely stunning and can be wire-brushed to achieve a more customized look. My two favorite standard finishes are the White Oak colors SoHo and Chelsea from their Manhattan Collection. See photos from our most recent showroom tour with Stephen, which includes both Dara Wood as well as other wood flooring styles. For more installation photos of Dara Wood projects please click here. Enjoy!
