2019 Kips Bay Decor Details
Custom bronze & Murano glass light fixture; Dining Room designed by Cullman & Kravis |
The Kips Bay Decorator Show House in New York City is considered by many to be the most prestigious show house in the country. The 47th one is currently being held on the Upper East Side and runs through May 30th -- if you haven't already visited it, be sure to stop by. Proceeds from this event support the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club in the Bronx.
The overall trend, without a doubt, is a revival of Art Deco. Needless to say, the participating designers are A-List / Top 100. Although the photos of each space have already been shared multiple times over, I thought you may enjoy seeing some of the most impressive details I came across.
After all, design is in the details....
The spaces I favor most are Robert Passal's "Salon de Reflexion," done in collaboration with Daniel Kahan Architecture, Brian Gluckstein's main staircase, and Katherine Newman's "The Pink Dragon Study". Bravo to all of the amazing designers this year; well-done!

I typically never place a TV over a fireplace, but this is the exception.
Black glass hides this TV and turns into a moody illuminated luxury.

Eve Robinson's room is beautiful and my favorite element is the light fixture from Jeff Zimmerman, which has a ribbon effect and is made from hand blown soda glass. |
Chinese Porcelain Lamps by Daniel Barney; Design by Charlotte Moss |
Charlotte Moss's master bedroom was a spirited adventure from the moment you entered. She draped the room in a custom blue and white gingham check from Bernard Thorp & Co. and infused the space with fine porcelain, fabrics, and a gorgeous display of faience.

Custom bronze and stitched leather suspended bookcase by Katherine Newman; Room design by Katherine Newman |
Katherine Newman's "The Pink Dragon Study" is another favorite of mine. Her attention to detail is exceptional and her suspended bookcase made with Jerry Pair leather is a showstopper.
