Newport Cottages: The Elms

My husband & I visited Newport, Rhode Island and were able to visit a few of the "summer cottages," despite the torrential rain. The Elms Mansion, built in 1901 and designed by noted architect Horace Trumbauer, was first on our tour of the Newport Summer Cottages; the estate was beaming with elegance from the moment we drove through it's imposing iron gates. We drove down the tree-lined path and parked adjacent the sprawling, impeccably-manicured Classical Revival gardens. There were so many beautiful spaces inside this property that I decided to focus this post on my favorite detail shots. I hope you enjoy scrolling through a part of Gilded Age history!
