Updated Elegance
Lapis Wave Mirror | Photo: @tiltonfenwick Design: @tiltonfenwick collaboration with @niermannweeks All of us have moments when we just need to hit the refresh button. If you are looking for a simple yet effective way to update a nook, hallway, or small space in your home there are a few changes, which can be accomplished quite easily, that can have a big impact. One way to update is with a showstopper mirror. The lapis wave mirror above is by Niermann Weeks in collaboration with the very talented designer, Tilton Fenwick. |
Photo: @archdigest Add new artwork, or reframe existing artwork, and arrange it in a new way over an existing console or sideboard to add life and color to the wall. Petite upholstered pieces also help to soften sharp lines, so if you feel your space is a bit cold try adding an ottoman in a fun fabric. Of course, a stunning vase full of fresh flowers never fails to help a space feel more complete and pulled together. If you are lucky enough to have a round table in your entry, then adding a few beautiful books is a recommended touch. Try stacking them in odd numbers; stacks of 3 or 5 always look best.

Lighting is one of the most important elements of good design. Add a distinctive table lamp for a touch of elegance or a whimsical pop of color.

Below are a few of my favorite table lamps. I recommend purchasing a pair when you find a style you love, but if you are budget conscious or unsure of how it will look in the space, then one great lamp will work.

If the area is not spacious enough for a furniture piece to hold a pretty lamp, then look for a beautiful ceiling fixture. A few of my favorites are handmade by Coleen & Company, which allows you to finish the pieces with any Benjamin Moore paint color. In addition to Coleen & Company, below are a few examples of my favorite ceiling fixtures:
